The Bionic Men in My Life


Both my husband and my father have "bionic parts" at this point in their very active lives, and because both have remained active after these various surgeries, doctors from OH to AZ have recognized their efforts and utilized them as the "Poster Boys" of health and fitness (in their respective age categories, of course!). As a result, I too have been included in a variety of marketing campaigns with them, giving me my 15 minutes of fame as well.


In 2011, John alas succumbed to nearly 30 years of pain and four prior knee surgeries to get a total knee replacement. His doctor was so impressed with his recovery, which included riding over 400 miles in Ride the Rockies only a year later, as well as several other events and camps leading up to RTR, that he recommended him to both Scottsdale Healthcare (the hospital network) and DJO Global (the 3D Knee manufacturer) for their marketing campaigns. As a result, we were both featured in SHC fliers and postcards reaching 60,000 households throughout the valley, as well as their website, and John was featured in a DJO video campaign. I guess it's true what they say, "No pain, no glory".
